I also recommend Greer, and I often end up there in August for about a week. Afternoon highs in the summer can be in the 80s, but they're usually lower if the monsoon is active. When the thundershowers move in, temperatures easily drop into the 60s. One thing that needs to be mentioned is: Greer is so small that it doesn't have much in the way of services. Closest gas station & grocery stores are in Eagar, which is 15 miles away, and quite a bit warmer than Greer due to the lower elevation & lack of trees.

I'm DONE with this heat, and am looking forward to October & November when it's usually more pleasant. Even if we get hot spells during the fall, it's not horrendous like during the summer, and the sun is at a lower angle which can make the heat feel less intense.

People are inside more often in the summer, but pools, misters and portable air-conditioners are available if you're outside. Some people don't have those conveniences though and I feel bad for them. I don't know how they do it.
