Do you use an on peak/off peak plan? If not you should switch to it and try to use less power durning hte peak hours.
I thought it was pretty high also. This past month I kept an eye on the energy we were using, lights, TV's, etc. If anything we kept extra electronics off, etc. Our fan was fixed so we expected a lower bill. The only difference is I've been working from home so during the day, this past month, I dropped the AC from 85 to 83 downstairs. Well, that raised our electric bill to $400. I just don't get it and I don't think it's correct. We've had so many other problems with our new house I don't doubt that our AC isn't right. I went around today checking the vents upstairs and found that I could only feel air coming out of like 3-4 out of probably 12 I checked. We aren't on a plan yet but I think we have no other choice at this point. I don't even know where to begin to have this checked out. We've already had our builder send out AC guys 3 times now...and they each had something different to say (surprise, surprise).

Chey,

You are $100.00 less with your electric bill per month than loco. You have a pool, your home is 100sq ft larger, you run your A/C 4 to 6 degrees cooler, it don't make sense. Did you mean $299.00 per month? If not, i would really be interested to know how you are saving more than loco?!

Cheydee might be more efficient using other items in her house. Runs her washer and dryer at night, etc. My parent's paid $65.00 this month for water and many months run as low at $35.00.

House - 1900 SQ FT single story, lots of windows (but energy efficient)

Home all day - (work from home)

Ceiling fans in all rooms but only one on at time

Only me in house most of time

Thermostat set to 80 during day - 77 at night

$279.00 bill

$199 was correctly typed. The difference makes complete sense to me.

My house is situated N-S, rather than loco's E-W.
I do not have valuted ceilings.
There are no children in this house, compared with 5 of loco's (thus less TV's running, etc.) Obviously, I do a LOT less laundry than loco, since there are only 2 people who live here. (That is less clothing, bedding, towels, etc.)
I run my pool pump for 6 hours/day, compared with loco's 10 hours. (Pool pumps pull a lot of electricity.)
My house was built in 2007, with extra insulation in the walls and ceiling and tech shield in the ceiling. The windows were upgraded and have no air leaks. I don't know about loco's, but these things make a difference in the electric bill too. I have sunscreens on my east, south, and west windows, as well as blackout drapes in the room which has both south and west exposure. My house is a single story, (again, don't know about loco's), which I think is cheaper to cool than a two story. Also, you have to "count" my $35 gas bill. Loco's house is all electric, mine is not. So, for all of those differences, I am only saving $66/month compared to loco. $101 for the electric, less $35 I spent for gas.

My water bills have been running between $35 and $43/month, no doubt beause of all the evaporation from the pool.

Edit: You also have to realize that post was made before SRP's primo summer rates. My last two bills have been much higher than $199/month.
