HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE LOWER DESERTS WILL FALL FROM NEAR 100 ON
THURSDAY TO THE LOW TO MID 80S ON SUNDAY..."

Anywhere else when they issue a watch/warning, its usually something significant. Here by the way they talk, you would think its our first freeze. Its supposed to be in the mid 80s, big deal, summer anywhere else.

Great, fires. lol
In phoenix this is news, people would pay a days salary to have a 80 degree day after the summer months have fried their little brains. I'm looking forward to it! It will be back up into the high 90's after it blows through so enjoy it! I bet we even see one or two more hundreds until Nov. 1

This week is what we who have lived here a long time call a "teaser". One week you think, aw, its here, then the next week its back up. It always cracks me up when people who just moved here think they can predict this weather we have. The weatherman has a hard enough time with this. Don't even think about cooler day temps until Nov. Then you can relax for a while. Summer will finally be here until Jan. when we hit Fall. lol

I love those "special weather statements". It seems like the NWS issues those everytime there's the slightest chance of rain, or when there's a noticeable temperature change coming. Even more laughable is the heat advisories they put out in the early part of the summer when the temps rise above 100 degrees or so. As if we don't know that it's going to be hot in Phoenix. (DUH!)

Anyway, it appears highly possible that today (October 2nd) will be the last day we see 100 degree temperatures this year, based on how much cooler the forecast is for this weekend and next week. If today is indeed the last day for 100 degree weather in 2008, it is right on target according to the averages.

Newcomers here think it is funny when we put on sweats or sweaters on the first 'cool' 80 degree day weather. We are quite used to the heat.. and it is almost chilly if the temp's drop quickly to 85.

Yes, I think we may have seen the last 100. But.. we who live here know.. it ain't over 'til it's over It reached 105 as late as Oct 10th, and I remember a Halloween when it was 96. Even November it has hit 93, so December & January are the only months we have not (yet..??) reached 90 or more. Then too, we had 100 degrees in March one time.

Well, at least one NWS forecaster says we have a winner (whoever had yesterday!)

Say goodbye to triple-digit temperatures

Laughing in good humour. Folks, it's cold right now where I live, and it's going to get a lot worse. Which is why my husband and I are wintering in your beautiful state. It's all a matter of perspective.

That being said, my sis, who is a Canadian living in Phoenix for over five years now, bundles up in December. It cracks me up! But, she tells me that if I winter enough times in AZ I will find myself complaining about the *cold* too.

102 today! But I think this might be the last. We will see but I am pretty sure this next cool spell will knock it out until next year. Lets cross fingers, so who won? Anybody guess the 9th or 10th of Oct.?
I hope everyone waited to plant the winter grass. It sucks when you plant it to early!

I didn't think it seemed that hot today (102). It hasn't officially been over 100 for a week or so now, has it?

I could care less if it reaches low 100s during the hottest time of the day as long as it is in the 80s shortly after sunset and in the 70s or less by midnight...
