I like McCain, but cannot stand Palin and therefore, cannot vote for a McCain/Palin ticket. It seems more and more Arizonans feel the same way. What many people do not understand about Arizona is that although it appears to be a red state in the eyes of the nation, it is very much an anomaly and not easily defined like other red states such as Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, etc. Arizona is not conservative in a way that is definable or even comparable to other states. This will be an interesting election year.

Poll shows presidential race too close to call
I am not an Arizona resident, but I can see no way that McCain doesn't win his home state. Even Mondale in 1984 won his home state (and Washington DC), even though he lost the other 49 states.

Obama supporters hate John McCain, and they really hate Sarah Palin. The things they say about them on internet discussion forums is so offensive that I'm voting against Obama just on principle. McCain and Palin aren't so terrible, and I think the American people are about to find out that a President Obama will not be so great. This thing feels like Jimmy Carter all over again. Just you wait.

No problem. But what of Palin increasing the taxes on oil companies and "redistributing the wealth" to Alaskans in the form of that neat check they get every year? Is it only "socialism" when a member of the opposite party suggests a relatively minor adjustment to those in the higher tax brackets? I say relatively simply because he could be advocating returning to circa 1950 top marginal rates.

On an unrelated note, is it not at least mildly disconcerting that Sarah Palin thinks man and dinosaurs walked the earth at the same time, and has publicly stated so?

It's probably not going to happen....but if it did, it'd be the ultimate manifestation of how bad the McCain campaign has failed.

You let anonymous Internet posters influence how you feel about a particular candidate? Wow 1) Research, 2) Research some more 3) Vote

I believe they have a term for voters like yourself: low-information voters.

In all seriousness, though- purely anecdotally, I live in Gilbert (mega LDS land) and I see more Obama bumper stickers and pins than McCain on a 2 to 1 basis, at least. I realize that's not necessarily indicative of anything "REAL" but it gives me hope.

The fact that he's in a position to be robocalling his home state smacks of the desperation and pathetic loss his campaign is beginning to reek of.

I'm a proud Republican IN Arizona voting for Obama!

They are highly sought as well. Low-hanging fruit if you will.

AND you are not alone. There are many AZ Republicans that have decided to vote for Obama...and yes, Palin has had a huge influence on NOT voting for McCain. Basically, she is too conservative, too religious, and too one-sided for many of Arizona's moderate republicans and independents (people who McCain once attracted in droves).
