Exactly - I went down there and it looked the same - or maybe better - than it did when I drove around there in the 90s...

Go down Madison avenue between 15th avenue and 11th avenue around 12 noon be sure to look up and down 13th ave. and 12th ave. It looks like the great depression. This is happening every day in Phoenix. It would be an extra bonus if you could post pictures of it here.

I don't know why the media doesn't report more on this but there it is.

I would like to see one of the folks here (whom I know probably lives in the nice clean suburbs and not in Phoenix or who lives in one of the very few nice areas of Phoenix) go down to Madison Avenue in the real Phoenix and see what goes on there every day there at noon time. It is horrible to put it lightly. Then ask again how is the job market in Phoenix?
How long have you lived in the area?...as mentioned before, this is nothing new...I drove down and took a look and things appeared to be a lot better than in the 90s...please no fear mongering...now it would be one thing if this were true but it isn't...there are other chat boards for that doom and gloom stuff...

I also saw some very skectchy areas around 27th Ave and Van Buren and 24th st and Jones also 12th st and Mojave. WOW!! do people actually live in those houses???

What about the areas around 15th ave and Broadway.
Oh, you answered my question...sounds like you're not familiar with the area...if these are sketchy areas to you, you haven't seen really "sketchy" believe me...those areas are a walk in the park...

Exactly...most everyone is taking huge pay cuts...I'm down 50% over last year - I'm 100% commission - but know one has to buckle down if they want to come out ahead in the long run...what bugs me is that job seekers see an offer as an "insult" because it's not what they're used to making! A job offer is not an insult but a privilege. Those that are hiring are not making what they're accustomed to either and are taking on more liability by hiring right now. If one can truly "walk the walk", work out some kind of arrangement where you're 100% compensated based on your performance and see how you like not having the security of a stable income but having to actually perform...

It seems prudent, if we are going to talk about numbers, and make statements about unemployment and such, that we quote some real research. Here's the data: 2009 forecast for job losses, by state
