I hadn't either, that's why I did some looking. As I noted in another thread, I found Beverly Park on a site that maps it as the area between 16th and 20th Sts and between Missouri and Montebello.

This is unbelievable. Thanks everyone. It's impossible to tell what kind of commute you'd be up against by just looking at google maps. And since my wife is out there working this week, it's tempting to do some dry runs of some of her possible commutes. It's probably not realistic to think she'll get all of them in, or she'll be testing commutes, reverse commutes, etc until noon every day, but now she can focus on the ones I haven't gotten feedback on. This is great.

By the way, I heard about Beverly Park while reading a bunch of old threads on here about good places to live. I have no idea what it's like, but the location sounded perfect since it's right in between my wife's job and where our friend lives, in Desert Ridge - and it's right near 51, which
we'd probably take to get up to Desert Ridge.

Here's the link to the thread that mentioned Beverly Park:

now that I know where "Beverly Park" is, it sounds like a great spot....much more established neighborhood, older, stable probably, close to 51 and very convenient location....

sounds like it may be in the Madison school district....

it's near the Biltmore/24th and Camelback area, which is a very nice in-town location.....not the suburbs at all, but maybe that's good.....kinda crowded maybe, to some....

When figuring commutes it is a useful exericse to figure out more than one route. I used to live near Tatum and Greenway and commute to 56th Street and Indian School using the Tatum/McDonald/44th St route described in this thread. A nice little 20 minute commute, usually. Then one day the Town of PV started a construction project at Tatum/McDonald that essentially rendered that route useless at rush hour for about a year or so. I found myself having to drive al the way over to Scottsdale Road (which was itself under construction) to avoid the mess, nearly doubling the time. Mountains being what they are, a simple construction project can cause major commute changes.

Wow, that sounds very quick. It sounds like you hit no traffic at all. Is that because it was relatively late?

Do you think you could make the same time if you left at 6:30 AM or so?

I drive the 51 at that time about once per week and there's never any delay. Prime time on the 51 tends to be closer to 7:30 and, even then, it's not all that bad - the only congestion I hit is between Glendale and Camelback.

That is really surprising. Traffic on the 51 from Greenway to at least Camelback can be quite congested in the morning. I would think that 6:30 would be better, not worse, than 8:15 and would suggest that the typical timeat 8:15 would be more than 20 minutes.

Wow, that's great. We might end up very close to 51, so that doesn't sound bad at all. Also thanks for the recommendation in your previous post. If we end up near Tatum, it might make sense to just take that all the way down.

Do you know if 51 has less traffic in the morning than 101? We're considering some neighborhoods up by the intersection of 101 and 51 - Grayhawk and MCDowell Mountain Ranch. It seems like 51 and 101 would both be options from there. Just curious if one tends to be worse than the other, or even if they tend to be the same on average, if either has the potential to be just a total parking lot on bad days.

Thanks.

I do drive a little over the speed limit and stay in the fast lane, but there was not much traffic today.
