has anybody ever purchased from pruitt's furniture before? if so, how's the quality of their furniture? how was your experience there? the prices seem very reasonable and i'm wondering where the "glitch" is. their deals just seem "too good"!

I've bought just about every stick of furniture I ever bought over 30 odd years from Pruitts. I do get recliners from Lazboy. No beef on the quality although I appreciate that it is not the top of the line stuff there. They have mid-range quality stuff I'd say. I like going there as they are like the WalMart of furniture with everything and a large selection under one roof. And they are a Phoenix icon unlike that place from Wisconsin .

ok, so ranking from "best" to "worst", just as a general guideline, where would you put pruitt's on this list:

1. ethan allen/high end places
2. roomstore/"chains" type places
3. ikea/cheap but chic
4. wal-mart/just cheap

even if you don't agree with my ranking "system" here, you can just use the generic description. the above is kinda my idea of how i compare furniture but i haven't realy bought a whole lot so your opinion would help a lot. thanks!!

They have a nice showroom but I've never bought from them. For some reason, I like Roomstore better.

I may be wrong, but I remember Pruitt's having a "going out of business" sale....in 1976 or so...when I was a kid....

my Mom accused them of fraud at the time.....

do I have the wrong place??....does anybody know what I mean??

I've only bought one piece of furniture from Pruitt's, a recliner. It was in 2000 but it's still chugging along and looks good.

On the other hand, I bought a recliner from Ashley Furniture 13 months ago and on the headrest part the leather is already wearing away. I called customer service but since it's over a year, they said there's nothing they can do, which kind of stinks.

J&K furniture on Bell Road and about 20th Street in Phoenix is also cheap and good quality.

Susan

It is a wonder that Pruitt's survived. This is the parking lot that Sheriff Arpaio kept arresting illegal aliens on and it made national headlines. Customers were afraid to go there for months.

We purchased a kitchen dinette set and baker's rack from Pruitt's back in 2004. Even after several moves, it's still holding up well. I enjoyed the experience as it's a locally owned "mom & pop" shop and we were able to look around without a saleperson constantly at our heels.

Yes, I agree. Maybe a 2. I have purchased there with no problems. The quality was ok and the showroom is huge. I especially like the back room where the clearance is.
