For those of us that have full brains we may be on a different level of thought process than yourself and the remaining individuals that have less than a full brain.

Yes, we have a gang problem, no doubt. Which city doesnt? I didnt even mention that about PHX because PHX also struggles from its own gangs and nasty crime, too (including mass kidnappings and a burgeoning drug trade). Yes, we're way overtaxed. Thats what happens when Democraps get into office. A high cost of living is only in pockets. There are tons of affordable suburbs that offer a wonderful quality of life. A depressed housing market? We're not even close to the worst. PHX and Vegas took that title, far and ahead (for major cities). Parts of PHX depreciated over 25% (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) during the housing downturn. Chicago area homes, last I checked, lost about 3% overall value.

Im sorry to get off-topic, so Ill steer it back on track...

Someone stated 78 degrees in Sedona in December? Uhhhh. Maybe 48!

While Chicago and NYC may have "culture", Phoenix is much cleaner and overall nicer, IMO.

But the dust is unbelieveable here, you can not keep your home, cars clean, its a loseing battle. And judgeing from the homes we went into house hunting, most folks don't even try, the dust has settled onto thier baseboards, dirty, dusty sand colored walls in big homes in nice neighborhoods.

As someone who spent half my childhood in Europe (even living for a time in a 400 year-old French chateau) and later graduated from high school out in the Hamptons of Long Island (and made MANY trips into NYC), I've had lots of big-city and cultural experiences - from the major museums to front-row-center seats to Cats on Broadway, I've done my share of all that. It was great mind you, but I've been there, done that - and now it's time to move on.

What I haven't experienced is ever living someplace WARM in the winter - and the older I get the MORE I desire that. Now I'm not moving to Phoenix mind you (a bit toooooo warm for me in the summer) but DO intend to move to an even less- culturally-centric location (SE Arizona) - and you know what? I'm perfectly OK with that.

Peace and quiet and sunshine and warmth is what I'm looking for - and I expect to find that in Arizona.

Dude, you missed the train. And the point.

I have a home in Phoenix, and miss it desperately. I live in Oregon now. And have lived in Chicago. Thank god I don't live there anymore. Hated every moment.

Different strokes for different folks. If you hate the heat and desert so much, leave.

I guess you did. Good for you. Why continue to compare Chi-town to Phoenix? They are in different leagues

Chi-town has great places to visit, I have seen them.... Just can't imagine wanting to see them daily. Probably the way you feel about the heat.

There are no fashionable snowshovels they all either rust or break lol! I'd settle for a popsicle and a t-shirt somedays in winter. No salt either please.
