I'm currently in IL and wanting to relocate to the phoenix area in the next two years. Although everyone is always touting the AZ weather as perfect for flying, it seems it's mostly perfect for flight TRAINING. The entire phoenix sectional chart is plastered with MOA's, alert, restricted areas, and national parks. Where are the best remote areas in class E/G airspace where you can do scenic XC flying at 500-1000' AGL.

I fly weight-shift trikes, and have no interest up upgrading past a sport-pilot. I know there is a place called the Ultralight Flight Center based in Peoria, but im not sure if their airfield is actually there. I've seen pics of trikes flying up and around Sedona. Am i correct that the sector NW of phoenix is the least controlled. The nice thing about IL is once you get away from chicago, you have 100+ miles of open farmland, but 6 months out of the year it's just too cold for an open cockpit.

Near Lake Pleasant, I believe. Might look near and between MZJ and CGZ, as well, but it likely won't qualify as "scenic".
Also, you can fly in MOAs VFR...just use extreme caution Monday through Friday.
Good luck!

Tough around here now since the Bravo covers much of the phoenix metro area. N/W phoenix is Luke AFB but the central area, east and west transitions through sky harbor as well as the East valley (Scottsdale and CHD) are busy.

N/W area or perhaps Casa Grande and south. Totally out of phoenix (like prescott) would be even better.
