I miss construction.. I didn't plan on the economy to take a dive.. I'm glad I have a job.. but thanks to these awful hours, i lost my relationship, and i'm doomed to a dysfunctional single life..

That's the worse advice I have ever seen.
I agree. What kind of person are you gonna meet at a casino? Probably a smoker, too. Geez!

Actually, I go all the time, at least once a month to play poker or play some of the other table games like BJ.

I get invited to Las Vegas often due to my "diamond" status with Harrahs, they pay for the room and give me money to gamble with.

The casinos out here are packed with old people, sleezy drunks, and evey now and then you'll find a group of younger girls, but it's hit or miss so telling the OP to go to a casino to find a girlfriend is hilarious.

What's wrong with being a smoker?

It will only be as "dysfunctional" as you want and/or make it.

As for shift work . . . I've done 'em all and each one has pluses as well as minuses. Your 5AM to 1PM means no commute traffic and off early enough for afternoon chores, a quick nap and dinner.

Enough of the Po Me BS, Bench . . . time to focus on the positives.

He jumps back into the social scene? That is so typical male, go out and find a bandaid relationship. Oh wait theres a term for that the transitional male/female, those are the ones people date to get over someone, someone to fill the Gap, no one to get serious about. I am sure that would be one lucky girl to get a date with some emotional battered male I think he needs to take the time to figure out what mistakes were made so you don't just repeat them in the next relationship.

You're absolutely right there. It is male and he is a male and that is why he needs to get out there and not sit around with a box of Kleenex and a bowl of ice cream wallowing in self pity and trying to figure out the "mistakes". That is SO female. His biggest mistake was falling for a woman who would stick him with a lease two months after she signed on. You should not be giving advice to men as you, like all women, don't have a clue. Stick to your sisters, sister.

Anyway, the post you quoted hardly encourages him to become a "transitional" male. Contrary to what the vocal critics on the forum will say, there are tons and tons of things to do around here and groups to do them with. Social interaction is enjoyable in itself and a useful way of meeting someone that is not "transitional". The post you ridicule was simply suggesting a couple of them.

Although I currently live in Memphis, my boyfriend just did that to me with an apartment. However, I am moving on with my life and am going to Phoenix on my birthday next year to see if I may want to relocate there. Just wanted to say hang in there.
