Ok, using only the clues and not by the pictures I'm saying a washing machine?? Oh yeah...some washing machines use gas..oh well!! Maybe some kind of vacume cleaner?

That's where my mind was going too, washer/dryer, it looks as if the things I had thought were wire/metal rods look more like accordian style movable things...
But, I still can't get the picture to match up in my head with any machine...

Looks like someone is a winner! Washing Machine is the correct answer.
Boy am I suprised! I had no idea by looking at the pictures..although the pictures are great (now that I see them totally). I went strictly on hints...what do most people do at least weekly around their home?? I know most of us do laundry more then once a week but I figured may as well try!! And it worked! YES!!!! Really super hints AksarbeN!!!
Thank you,,, most of the time we look at things and forget what is inside, no matter how familiar we are using it each week, we only pay attention to the outside. I felt the pictures were big enough and worried that they would be too revealing so I added more hints then normal. I loved the part about “it moved but never went anyplace”,,,,
