My first attempt at the Great Andromeda Galaxy (Messier 31)
Guiding was off a bit. This image is a stack of 7 three-minute exposures at ISO 1600, for a total of 21 minutes exposure time.
Taken at Taylorsville Lake, Kentucky on 11/09/2010. I hope to get longer and better exposures this year.
Very nice. I've been enjoying your astro shots.
Curious what 'scope/lens you're shooting with there. I've shot M31 a few times with 70-200mm and 28-300mm lenses. This has been my best attempt so far, w/ 200 1-min subs:
Hi. That 200 mm lens you used did a good job. Is it an ED lens? My only criticism is that your color saturation is a bit high, other than that, it looks great. I used a Modified Konus 200 (~8") f5 Newtonian telescope. At that focal lentgth, I can't get it all in my field of view. I almost didn't post my picture because it really isn't very good.
