Need to get to the airport tomorrow. If the section of Pkwy adjacent to the Mon Wharf is closed , what would be the best route to the airport if traveling west from Blairsville?

I'd suggest taking the Parkway East to the Boulevard of Allies. Take the Blvd to the Liberty Bridge. Once through the Liberty Tunnels, make a right onto 51 and go a few miles until you can get back onto 376 to the airport.

Another option would be to take the Turnpike west to the Allegheny Valley exit. From there, go south on 28 to 279. At that point it is a straight shot through the Ft. Pitt Tunnels to the airport.

Just discussed here a couple of days ago: //www.city-data.com/forum/pitts...ub-please.html

If you're doing it during rush hour, good luck!

Tomorrow is Saturday, shouldn't be much rush hour.

It's only a short segment that's closed so while you can do the Liberty Bridge/Tunnel thing the forced detour at Grant St to Ft Pitt Blvd to back on at Stanwix really shouldn't be too bad.

Of course, in the other one someone was doing this at 5am, so assuming it's not at 5am you may have better luck with the Liberty Bridge option because there could be *some* backup at Grant Street. It's Saturday, but traffic on that route is not totally dead.

But it's also St. Patrick's day (observed,) so that could be a factor.

Obviously I overlooked the part about the trip being tomorrow, or maybe I overlooked the part about tomorrow being Saturday...

St Patrick's Day parade and festivities could be a factor, true, depending upon timing. Won't be like rush hour, but that's another good reason to use the Liberty Bridge I guess.

Thanks for the suggestions. Going to take the cowards way out , leave 30 minutes earlier, take the tpke to I79. Probably would have been easier to book out of DC or Baltimore.

That is one extreme detour just to avoid a tiny closure. But if that's what makes you feel comfortable, I guess it'll be fine.
