I just got a job in Pittsburgh downtown. It is closed to allegheny center. I am looking for an apartment (1 studio or 1bed room) no more than $ 650/month.Prefer a place easy to drive to work, closed to library, gym and restaurants and supermarkets.School isn't my concern.Safety is no.1 then convenience.

Any suggestions on which areas what I should to looking for apartments.Any recommendation on apartments?

Thanks,AI

I used to live in Allegheny Center.

The apartments start off at $600 a month with heat and AC included in the price.

Convenient, they do have security and the neighborhood is moving up from where it was in the early 90s when I was there. The staff was real accommodating and the service was good when I needed it.

However, it isn't too quiet- especially if you are in one of the less expensive apartments, as there are a lot of students in Building 7 and 8 where those apts. are located.

Not that quiet however

Bellevue and Avalon are the easiest automobile commutes to Allegheny Center.

I also used to live in Bellevue, close to Ohio River Blvd.

Its a quiet area, Bellevue has a library and a Kuhns on the main drag, Lincoln Ave. and Giant Eagle on Brighton Rd.

Bellevue is also a dry town- no liquor is sold within the borough limits, but there are bars in Avalon and restaurants on Ohio River Blvd.
