This is sort of a strange thing to say, particularly for me, but the new parking lot has significantly improved the look of the areas around the Fort Pitt Bridge (note this is a testament to what a wasteland it looked like before), and I noticed they are also cleaning up along the trail at least to the parking lot across from the Duquesne Incline. Eventually I'd like to see structured parking and better uses of this land, but I think this project as a whole is definitely a near-term positive for aesthetics of the Greater Downtown area.

Does anyone know if the orientation of the stadium has been changed from the original plans? It looks like they are now building the field perpendicular to the river instead of parallel like it was in the original renderings. I'm not sure how I feel about that...

I thought it was parallel to the river the last time I drove by, but I wasn't paying too much attention. It would be dumb to build it perpendicular to the river. I hope that isn't happening.

Where are you getting that idea? From the webcam shot, the main stands are facing the river, just like in the orginal renderings.

I think it might just be the way that the webcam is distorting the image. The field area appears much wider than it is long.

I did a double-take too when viewing the webcam as the angle and position does make the field appear to be shorter than it really is. From the Ft Pitt Bridge, though, it looks just fine.

What's not going to look nice is the football lines on a "soccer" field. There are 1000 football fields in Pittsburgh, why do the Passion need to play there?

I don't know much about these types of things, but I would imagine that the Passion playing there (and anyone else using the space) will help the soccer team be able to afford the stadium. That would be my guess, at least.
