Pittsburgh, while never small, was never a huge city.

It has had a pretty big impact on this country, especially considering its size.

It is also the model for rust belt recovery.

I was friends with the Pittsburgh member of Lotus when I was in college.

What a shame. thought I'd be able to catch crystal castles in Pittsburgh since I'll be home visiting when they play at the Congress in Chicago. This seems to happen to me way too often when I come home to visit. Too bad Columbus and/or Cleveland have to steal a good chunk of Pittsburgh's shows.

Edit...yes this is a random rant/comment...but this is the 4th times this has happened to me when I've come home to visit.

Back in the day, Detroit had the Motown sound, does Pittsburgh have a "Steeltown Sound?" Do the artists create a combination of Gritty, Soul, Indie, and Country Hill Billy with a splash of Blues?

ForYourLungsOnly,

What do you think it should sound like?

Should it have heavy brass and percussion, light strings, slightly melodic with a twist of synthesizer?

What's the sound of people living in an area where they are encouraged to do their own thing?

He's envisioning what could be, you are seeing what is.

I'm ready for an entirely new type of music to burst forth. I could see something completely new coming from Pittsburgh. My guess is a new sound would be cheery & clever, just because we haven't had a lot of music like that lately and these things always go in cycles. Maybe something like the Barenaked Ladies would do except different of course because it would be a new sound.
