If so where ? And are the beaches free? Are the lakes and rivers in hunting areas? Are you allowed to hunt there. Or camp out? Need all the info from those that are knowledgeable....

These state parks have swimming:
PA*DCNR*-*West

Presque Isle is the nicest but there are others closer. (and it has 11 beaches!)

In Pittsburgh you are mostly going to spend regional weekend outdoor get-a-ways to state parks. These are very nice can insist of Presque Isle for a Great Lake's beach, Ohiopyle for numerous outdoor activity, Racoon Creek, keystone, Morraine and among many others for lake activity.

Majority of outdoor activities in Pennsylvania take place in State Parks, State Game lands, or areas opperated by the Army Corp of Engineers. A lot of other areas tend to be privately owned. There are a lot of these around Pittsburgh for outdoor activities. For river use there is a lot of River use up and down Pittsburgh's three rivers. In many state parks hunting is outlawed majority of the year. Some state parks allow hunting during hunting season but typically away from the shore areas.

I like Ohiopyle for outdoor get-a-ways. The rivers there are used for white water rafting in spans, canoeing, and a section where people swim and wade. Then the scenery is beautiful with great hiking. Pittsburgh does not have quick access to a ocean, but there are nice places for weekend get-a-ways and better with regional short trips for long weekend trips.

For hunting near the Burgh get to know your local farmer and see if they will let you hunt there or join a hunting club. There are some pretty nice ones, especially in Northwestern PA. In terms of camping, I really prefer the Allegheny National Forest area and here is a good link: Allegheny National Forest Campgrounds
