Yes I have. Pittsburgh simply can't compete on the hookers and gambling front. You can get Broadway shows on broadway.

I'll take a convention/trip to Vegas over da burgh every day of the week.

You certainly have the lowdown on the hookers, however.

I love Vegas, it is one of the few cities to truly offer something for everyone; it only takes a bit of planning when going if it does not involve gambling or binge drinking.. Plus, you can always rent a car and do some awesome day trips.

That's like saying Pittsburgh wasn't a real city when it was nothing but a big steel mill.

I don't think anyone (Vegas fans included) should have an opinion on hookers until they have been to any country south of Honduras.

I suppose that's why you'd like to go to Vegas. I really don't see the relevance of your preference for hookers and gambling over Pittsburgh to the fact that more people are visiting. vegas has more than twice as many hotel rooms so there's plenty of room for growth without having to provide you with as many legal hookers.

I don't have an opinion on the hookers, just noting that it's there. there are lots of awesome day trips from lots of places. let's face it, people love thailand for the same reason. if you're vacation doesn't involve binge drinking, gambling, or hookers there are a lot of places to visit that are better than vegas.

I'm not a big Vegas fan by any means, but you'd be out of your mind to pick Pittsburgh over Vegas to host a convention.

and yet not every convention is in vegas... (and yes, men away from their wives are EXACTLY the sort of customer vegas thrives on)
eta: the top three convention markets are orlando, chicago, and vegas. all three are among the easiest to fly into and out of in terms of flights offered

I would imagine an out of towner getting excited to be sent to his first company paid convention by his employer upon opening his mail & reading 'Pittsburgh' would illicit roughly the same reaction if one of us opened our mail and read 'Des Moines'.

You know those visitor's guides that used to be available at hotels (haven't seen any lately)? Ever look at the ads in the back? Lots of escort and massage services and etc.

Really? Does it offer top-notch natural history museums, five-star vegan restaurants, and historic urban architecture? I guess it must since it offers something for everyone.
