The one woman that's always runs for judge really needs someone to tell her "Jen for Judge" is not a respect inspiring slogan for that office if she loses this election too - though she may have as many signs around as all of the mayoral candidates.

People in Squirrel Hill are already alleging that Mayor Ravenstahl intentionally scheduled annoying maintenance/utility work in front of a polling place in order to turn people away from voting for Bill Peduto. The polling place serves many elderly residents who were unable to find parking and is located within a Peduto-heavy district.

That's a pretty far-fetched conspiracy theory for sure, but I'll admit if this work is just to "raise the height of a manhole cover" then why couldn't it have been rescheduled for tomorrow?

I am a registered Democrat and have been for thirty years now but I think that the city's current primary and general election system is broken and dumb. It's anti-democratic (with a small 'd') to have the mayor's office decided by a small subset of voters in the Spring. I'd much rather see some sort of non-party based run-off system where anyone registered any party could vote for anyone running in the first election and then the top two winners of that election run against each other. That way we wouldn't end up with a mayor who'd won with as little as 27% of Democratic voters and no independent or Republican voters.

I had business yesterday in Greentree around 7AM. I forgot how bad traffic is in the South Hills. Thought I was smart and took Liberty Avenue to get home. Traffic was backed up due to Jack Wagner standing at the entrance to the Tubes with a big Vote for Me sign. People were slowing down as they went by him. Too bad I was in the wrong lane, might have swerved to take him out.

Where's ScottPriester when you need him?

Wagner seems to me to be just another career politician, a vote for him is a vote for more of the same cronyism in Pittsburgh.

What I've noticed in Beechview is that the Rudiak signs are in the same yards with the Peduto signs, and the Lee signs are in the same yards as the Wagner signs. The lines aren't usually that clearly drawn.

Yeah. Here in the East End there are very few deviations from Peduto for Mayor/Gilman for Council pairs. I've seen a few Sam Hens-Greco for Council signs (with no mayoral signs). I've also seen a few Peduto for Mayor/Jeanne! Clark (not sure why she needs an exclamation point after her first name) for Council pairs.

you know, i didn't even notice that they didn't endorse anyone for that race! john thompson is really popular though (and think NUW likes him! i like him!)

there are some pretty divided political factions in wilkinsburg so maybe they figured he didn't need their help and might be harmed with some people by their endorsement. or they just forgot that the mayor was up for election this time around, like i did. haha.
