Hello,
I will be looking for a one-bedroom apartment for a move in around the end of July. I'm currently with an independent landlord & it's working out great (however I'm in an efficiency & his 1brdm prices are a little too high for the sq footage)

I was looking into Dormont, Beechview, Ingram & downtown Crafton (not the heights). I like those areas because of being close to public transit (busway, T ect) We are buying my sisters car in March so at the end of the day it doesn't matter the area. I could always head to a park & ride. I work downtown if that helps. My s/o works in Robinson. Our price range would be under $550. We could consider $600 depending on the utilities included.

Is anyone on here an independent landlord or could they refer me to one?

Thanks

I'm looking for something similar. Craigslist has given me a lot of decent leads, have you checked there? Also I was told to check zillow and trulia for rentals.

thanks for your response. I have checked Craigslist & received great results, but since I'm not looking until July it is a little difficult. It seems as if most are for immediate occupancy. I have been "window shopping" craigslist as well as RentJungle (great site, by the way!) to see what is all in my price range. I've became successful with a few in the Dormont, Beechview area but it does seem that most are located in Mckees Rocks Again, thanks for the response!

I live in Crafton and see For Rent signs when I'm out and about. Most are smaller apartment complexes that seem well kept. I don't know what they rent for or if they are independently owned, but I suggest you drive around and get their phone numbers and do a little research into what they charge, amenities, etc.

Yeah, most of what I've found is in McKeesport or Munhall. I'll check Rent Jungle out, thanks for the suggestion. I agree with Goodjules, driving around the neighborhood you are interested in nets quite a few results as well.

You would be absolutely shocked at how many old school landlords in this area never bothered to learn how to use a computer and simply throw a "for rent" sign up.

Also Padmapper is a good site:

I may be old school, but I got great tenants by just putting a sign in the window.
