That would seem to defeat the most impoortant reason for it - being able to recruit enough talent in the region.

I hope this is true. Pittsburgh would never have the infrastructure to cope with a large influx of population.

Dear God, please make it stop! Actually, since they were also looking at Dallas and NYC as one of the finalists, maybe one of the two will be Dallas, that way they can have HQ in three different parts of the country: Seattle, New York and Dallas.

"Amazon plans to invest more than $5 billion, and the 50,000 new company jobs are expected to yield an average pay of more than $100,000."

They’re not going to have any problem recruiting talent.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. They want the same talent all the tech companies do. I don't know the NOVA tech market, but in NYC, it's already pretty tight. And Amazon doesn't have a great reputation for treating it's employees well.

In PGH, they could have pretty well dominated the tech employment market.

They haven’t made it this far without knowing what they’re doing. They’ll have people lining up to work for them. They’re not the only company that doesn’t have a great track record for treating their employees well.

If they wanted to come here they would’ve but as I’ve said from the very beginning, imo they were never coming here...but it would’ve been great if they did.

Except the city once had almost 400K more people than now. Even in the 1990s, it has almost 70K more.
