People like to say things that sound good for their particular stance on social matters, but most times they have never actually experienced it. It just seems like it 'should' be true and sounds good on paper, but its not reality.

A lot of us can't even speak about it for fear of blow back so I won't comment on the Homewood portion and my personal history there, but I can say I'd walk 8th ave in Homestead all day any day without a second thought. I mean, there is constant traffic there unless you are strolling down the road at 3AM or something.

I would say Homewood and Northview Heights are pretty rough and I wouldn't deal with them as a white man. I know that isn't popular, but I have to be honest. Been to both before and not interested in returning. I think Homewood is on the rise however and I feel it is going to be nice within 10 years.

Sorry for honesty here, but I just know too much about what has gone on there within the past couple of years to know that some areas of Pittsburgh aren't safe. If you live there and know people etc., it might be much safer than an outsider rolling through there.
I worked off an on in Homewood for 6 years. All daylight hours, I never had a single problem. So in MY case, it is a true statement. I was just over there for an event at the library as well, gorgeous building. I cut down Hamilton as a shortcut to Braddock Ave all the time, never a problem. All anecdotal I know, but first hand (unlike yours) experience nonetheless.

Thanks fellow i appreciate it
And I've been a victim of crime myself downtown, in broad daylight, and the cops didn't want to do anything about it. Honestly for me the days of biting my tongue are over. If someone wants to get defensive over the truth, they can pout all they want until they're blue in the face - I'll set them straight.

Are you a young white male?

If you read the local paper or watch the news or converse with PAT bus drivers & riders, which can be fun, you get a pretty good idea of what areas are higher in crime. I don't need to go to an area and get mugged to realize that my chances of being a victim is higher.

I won't walk at night behind the Waterworks Shopping Plaza, for instance, as I know of several criminal incidents that have happened.

Because i am and remember when race relations were much better. There were three things that really destroyed it: Obama, the media's distortion of the Trayvon case, and the media's race-bating with Trump. I've been on the receiving end of all kinds of racism and a racial target of crime particularly in the past 2 years. I've watched things deteriorate rapidly through these 3 milestones.
I'm a young fit-looking blonde white guy, and the media has social engineered people, especially minorities, to see Nazi when they see me.
And i have an incredibly diverse set of friends, and note how the nonwhite ones don't experience the same things i do, while the white male friends do experience it. So if you're not a young white male, your experience is less valuable to me.
