He simply hates the Stillers, especially Ben, and wants to see them lose. He had to wait 14 weeks before they lost before he surfaced. No telling what they did to him, lol.

that might have true at one time - the Steelers did just that in Noll's reign, and with a few selected draft picks, built on that (Greene on def, Harris on offense)....

but yeah, the browns, and lets not forget the DETROIT LIONS just proved that strategy is not so dependable anymore, I guess.

Stafford in Detroit - not a Lions fan here, nor a detractor. but i would have loved to see them rise above, challenge the usual NFC contenders....Stafford's time there is a big disappointment, but wasn't without a few glimmers of winning.

not that it was his fault necessarily. they just couldnt build well enough.

I think in the early salary cap years and the no cap years it was easier to suck for a little while and get better quickly with solid drafting and key free agent acquisitions. In the modern NFL the majority of successful teams have been built slow and steady by not reaching in the draft or overpaying for washed up former stars. The Jets are a good example of what not to do here and of course they overpaid for Leveon Bell, among others in recent years. Every team has to re-build eventually, but some like the Jets and Browns are in a constant state of re-building because they are not slow and methodical in their approach. The Browns have definitely done a little better lately of course, but we will see if they can have sustained success. Also, the quarterback position has become so important lately with all of the rule changes benefitting offenses. Consequently, a poor decision regarding a quarterback can set teams back for years or even decades now. For instance, the Rams really gambled on Stafford and they truly believe they can win a Super Bowl with him. It will be interesting to see what happens with Deshaun Watson.

I don't really follow the Steelers now (or any team) but when Noll was coach the theory he followed, if I remember it correctly, in the draft was to get the best player available that round and work from there. Now it seems that the idea is to draft for your holes.

It’s still that way for the most part, but ever since free agency happened, it became hard to deviate from filling needed spots.

Doesn’t appear that way.

Although, apparently, contract details have yet to be finalized , Rooney, as usual was unwilling and/or unable to make the hard decisions for the team to move forward.
Yet another year of Tomlin's arrogance, egomania, and unwillingness to change, since he is Coach for Life.
Also, more inevitable Roethlisberger drama, as his once prodigious physical skills continue to decline.
This outfit reminds me of the French Ancien Regime in many ways.

Personally, I love seeing Ben getting paid no matter what they agree on. Most everyone who signed a contract and didn’t get paid would be absolutely livid...and as for the Ben haters, it’s only 1 more year.

The Stillers aren’t going anywhere of significance anytime soon unless they find the next Ben.

As to Tomlin, once Ben is gone and a “rebuild”(Stillers don’t rebuild, never have, and never will), he needs to go also, but while it won’t happen, the best chance we have is that he leaves after his contract is up and goes to a team with a meal ticket qb like he’s had his entire head coaching career.

Yeah Art II is a clown. But hey this is what they want. Leave the stale head coach in there for life and A farewell tour for a QB that should’ve been gone in 2018 with a dead arm and no chance for the Super Bowl. But hey it’s what the fans want. Another season of medicority, mediocre draft position leads to endless mediocrity. I just don’t see the point in Bringing Ben back whether they owe him money or not. It’s time to move on and pass the torch to someone else
