Idk, you can get a new Spark or Mirage for $12k, which is what most decent used cars cost. With the Mirage you get a 10 year / 100k mile warranty, not that you will use it. I've had my Mitsubishi for ten years, 156k miles and never needed a repair beyond regular maintenance.

Are you referring to The Balcony Lounge on Walnut St. It was replaced with a Pottery Barn long ago. My wife and I would sneak in there for dinner, jazz and drinks back in the day. We were 19 or so back then. Live music and no ID needed.

i worked with a guy years ago that would say Shadyside was a bohemian area of different people, different music styles...

it might have become more homogenous and less lively in the mid 90s, but that is just a guess on my part.

i recently stumbled on article from the 1960s that was about shadyside, calling it "Pittsburgh's Greenwich Village". But I wonder if Greenwich too has become - normal, usual.

it was absolutely bohemian back in the day, and the idea that shadyside was pittsburgh's greenwich village was a marketing strategy, the same way the elevated park at the terminal building in the southside is named the "highline" after NYC's highline - hence shadyside village, tennis village and the old village pizza
