And that’s because every team has to have 1 representative in the ASG.

So we’re changing the rules because a Pirates player had a great 2nd half. It’s what you’ve done this year, not what you did last year, and he certainly hasn’t been an all star this year.

Cruz goes under .200 average, has made some terrible fielding decisions since he’s been up, has 38 strikeouts in 97 at bats, etc…, but “he throws the ball so hard to 1st base”.

Pirates take a SS with the 4th overall pick:

Chances are better that this SS is a bust than a success, but I do like the Pirates draft strategy of taking the best available player as opposed to most sign-able or a position of need. MLB takes years to develop a player so if we ever see this guy in the majors, it will likely be in 4-5 years.

Haha, true. Who gives a hoot if he can throw hard. Mark him a pitcher then. We need em.

With the way "Shelty" has been using position players to pitch, that may come to pass.

A sad day as Dick Schofield passes away. Not a superstar hitter but more like Maz with great defense. https://triblive.com/sports/ducky-sc...ies-at-age-87/

More great players from eras when the Pirates had consistently good teams are fewer and fewer. Tragic that ownership thinks it's acceptable to have 3 winning seasons in the last 25 years or whatever.

It’s official. Even Joe Block has joined the PR homering…and Cruz’s average and slugging has gone down since…but “he throws really hard to 1B.
