Lee applied for and was granted amnesty in 1868.

The case of United States v. Jefferson Davis never went to trial, a decision finalized in 1869. The federal government reached its decision in part because it feared that Davis would either prove to a jury that secession was legally permitted under the U.S. Constitution or he would be transformed into a martyr if convicted and executed. Davis remained under indictment until Andrew Johnson issued on Christmas Day of 1868 a presidential "pardon and amnesty" for the offense of treason to "every person who directly or indirectly participated in the late insurrection or rebellion.

Lee's and Davis' citizenship were not reinstated until the 1970s.

I'm sure Merrick Garland is reviewing these cases and Ford's pardon of Richard Nixon.
I’d be ok with them revoking his citizenship and seizing his assets. That’s more punishment than jail. Strip him down to nothing and then send him out to pasture without secret service protection.

Nah, doesn’t deserve any of that, and it’ll never happen anyway. He told folks to go home and they did.

He told Comey to just let go of the "Russia thing" in regards to Mike "the FIfth" Flynn.
He told his son to lie about purpose of a meeting with a Russian attorney in June 2016.
He told Zelensky to do him a little favor.
He (falsely) told his supporters that the election was stolen.
He (falsely) told his supporters that there was some opportunity on January 6th to change the result.
He used the language of "war" to tell his supporters on January 6th they needed to "fight" or they were not going to have a country any more; he also repeated the same election lies, and said he would join them on the march to the capitol. And, in amongst the "war-like" rhetoric and the lies, he made one reference to marching "peacefully," although who would march peacefully if they truly believed their country was at risk (and, in fact, many folks who have been convicted of crimes in relation to January 6th have said they believed the President was calling them to act).
After he used the war-like rhetoric, and after calling on his supporters to march to the capitol, and after watching the riot, and despite calls from his family, his staff, and his friends in the media, he did nothing for 187 minutes.

Bingo…and their feelings were hurt and their angst raged as soon as poor Hillary lost. Hilarious how they still tout muh Russia when it was nonsense. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ger-says…and as to 1/6, he told folks to protest peacefully and patriotically, and when it turned into a riot, told folks to go home.

If Russia was nothing why did the mueller investigators document 10 instances where Trump attempted to obstruct the investigation. In fact the Democrats showed great restraint in not attempting to impeach Trump for that behavior which Mueller suggested was the appropriate means to address those bad acts on the part of President Trump.

On 1/6, consider also the following:

Trump and/or his senior staff were aware of reports of potential violence on that day;
Trump motivations for the Jan 6th gathering were based on lies and unlawful and unconstitutional arguments
Trump was told that leading marchers to capitol would violate all kinds of laws, but still he attempted to lead supporters
Trump was told that people in crowd had weapons, but still he directed them to march to capitol
Trump did nothing for hours while the riot raged, even continuing to tweet about pence not having courage
Trump after multiple entreaties over several hours made some statement
Trumps staff and Republican congressman and woman recognized trumps culpability

SMH. So many false narratives in that post.

You do realize that Nancy Pelosi and Muriel Bowser refused Trump's request for the National Guard to present on January 6th, right? Please don't give me some rubbish you see on Snopes. There was no insurrection. Trump is culpable for noting that day. He called for his supporters to do things peacefully and patriotically. I know facts are refused on delivery for leftists, but it's true.

By the way, when are the hearings for the riots that Democrats did during the summer of love in 2020 and also the riots over wanting to kill babies? Just curious about that.

Not snopes -- is there similar reporting debunking the reporting in this article:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...capitol-jan-6/

Even if he called on his supporters to do things "peacefully and patriotically" -- he was calling on them to do so in support of lies about election fraud and further in support of an unlawful and unconstitutional theory, and further, notwithstanding what Trump wanted his supporters to do, folks in his administration realized prior to Jan 6th, that violence was a strong possibility. Again, not the left, members of Trump's administration, like Meadows, thought this was a possibility, and Republican congressmen/women that thought this was a strong possibility. Not sure why a president would call on people to protest peacefully and patriotically in support of lies and unconstitutional acts -- doesn't sound very patriotic to me?!

...
a quick google search revealed that to be true....or false...depending on whatever anyone chooses to trust:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...-6/8929215002/

"...statements from Pelosi’s office and the Pentagon and testimony from the former House sergeant-at-arms show Trump did not request 10,000 troops ahead of the rally."

https://www.politifact.com/factcheck...thorization-2/

this, from Jan 8, two days later, which shows that Guard mobilized but it does not mention Trump at all:

https://www.nationalguard.mil/News/A...apitol-attack/

in support of Trump...sort of...

https://mynbc15.com/news/nation-worl...january-donald

about Mike Pence's demands to get the Guard:
