They have to pay the bills somehow. Get XM-Sirius and you won't have to deal with as many commercials. Anyone try the HD radios? Are there as many commercials on the extra channels? The way they advertise it, you would think not but I have never listened to an HD radio station.

Any competition for that melon headed, jabba the hut of radio Mark Madden will be welcomed. I still can't believe he does as well as he does here.

I don't think Hopes is talking about the advertising end of it (although I have Sirius/XM for that reason), I think he is referring to the non-stop DJ banter. Take the X for example. In the morning its Tim Bends (sp?), and Mark Madden in the afternoon. It seems for most major stations they gear their drive time format to some form of talk radio. BOB style stations being the exception.

You're right, xtant64. I'm talking about the DJ banter. I'm not interested in hearing those people talk. I want music.

The point is, why change one format to another when that format is working? This will make it the fourth time that CBS is messing around with the format. B94 is Top 40 whereas Star 100.7 is Adult Contemporary. Can't they just get a new frequency to put this sports talk station into place? Even though I mainly listen to Star 100.7 for its Flashback Friday, I think it is fine as it is, I'd rather not listen to a bunch of rap and R&B get mixed into it. Case in point, I don't think Pittsburgh can sustain two stations with the same format anymore.

How much more sports talk can this market take? Maybe they'll bring back Thor Tolo. In a related topic, I hear Randy Bauman left the DVE morning show.

They should have left B94 alone. They don't need another sports station! WTF is wrong with Pittsburgh radio anymore?

The X is horrible! They should not even call themselves alternative. They should become "Active Rock" (like what K-Rock was.) Not only that. All Benz and Madden talk about are sports. Hence back to the sports talk format, WHY?????

Exactly! Why do I need to let some one else's tastes dictate what songs I'm listening to, when an mp3 player allows me to basically be my own program director. I never listen to music on the radio anymore. Talk and sports are the only reason to listen to the radio anymore.

Because after awhile you'll only listen to the stuff you liked when you were in your 20's. Anyone else got Blood, Sweat, and Tears greatest hits loaded up?
