I'm not unemployed but it should be obvious they should keep coming as long as said person is trying to find a job and not just sitting a home leeching off free money.
In this economy anybody can become unemployed just like that..
Change the name to from "unemployment" to "welfare" then we can talk. If the economy NEVER goes back to the way it was is it just a given that everyone will receive money forever? REALLY? Because that's the road we are on ya know.

You are supposed to tell them where you've applied before you get your next check. I know people who are just applying to jobs they don't qualify for so they have something to list.
The amount they get on unemployment is more than they would get today with the min wage jobs currently available even though it's less than what they made before. For some..it's getting the max you can while you can until you find a job that paid at least as much as you got before.
BTW, I didn't loose a job because I was a SAHM but now I need to work and can't find one so when will we be extending these benifits to people like me? It's as logical as giving it to some of the people who currently receive it.

In principle this works fine, but what to do to decide if someone trying to find a job? There are people who have taken the fine line between looking for a job but not finding one to an art form.
Sometimes I think there should be unemployment for eight weeks then you have to start committing time to public works projects to continue receiving it. Not full time mind you one should have the time to continue looking for full time work but any bennies after eight weeks you reports at least 20 hours per week for graffiti removal, landscaping detail, highway trash pickup, library book reshelving, public restroom janitorial duties, etc.
This is to accomplish both motivation to find a job since no more vacation but maybe save some expensive contracting fees the community pays for.
