Excellent post. Well stated.
Prosperity and fairness are not mutually exclusive for goodness sakes! In fact, it is much more fair to let people succeed and yes, prosper on their own rather than divvying up everything equally.

In the relevant context, fairness means robbing the rich and middle classes and destroying their communities by forcing third world migration upon them so everybody suffers equally. Third world people make any new home a third world one.

I know one step to solving the problem of the poor in this country. Stop importing more (legal or illegal) immigrants and especially temporary workers in this country, then maybe the poor would have a shot at a better life. The small countries in Europe seem more prosperous than us. Why? Because they have small manageable populations and thus have access to greater wealth. It has nothing to do with social justice, just the free market at play. The more people in a country, the more excuse companies can make in lowering wages. Supply and demand people, something hardcore Leftists don't understand, and something hardcore Right-wingers exploit. Everybody on here says they are for legal immigration, well I'm not for any immigration except close family relatives from FIRST world nations and a limited number at that. No more than several hundred per year, and raise the citizen eligibility to 15 years and must take intensive classes on American government and the Constitution.

Those small european countries have no future. The EU doesn't allow limitation on EU migration. Turkey will be exporting 80 million muslims soon to ruin those countries.

Granting that each side has valid points, where do you come down?

Would you be in favor of enforcing the outcome of more equal slices of a smaller pie that grows more slowly?

Or do you prefer policies that increase the vitality of the economy, with faster growth, but greater inequality of incomes and wealth?

I'm convinced there is a trade-off, but neither side presents the underlying issue as such.

What do you think?

"Fairness" has become a liberal buzz word for redistribution of wealth.

No marxist economy has EVER done well with this model. It has failed everywhere, and will fail if implemented in the US.

Policies that improve the economy helps EVERYONE in the end, as there is increased jobs and opportunity for everyone. However, this does not guarantee success for everyone, as this requires hard work.

Let's forget about killing the economy with all the crazy job killing marxist plans of Obama and go back to letting the private sector prosper, employ people, who then in turn pursue thier own dreams.

Marxism and the policies of Obama are a dead end to a slave state. Allow people to live free and make thier own decisions- good or bad. The marxist priniciple is that of supporting a caged animal- fed, but never free.

Yes I know. They were prosperous before the single currency came along and before there was the concept of EU citizen and thus unlimited border hopping to select countries. Their prosperity is going down everyday because they keep taking in more cheap migrants.

Exactly right. The idea of fairness if fundamentally flawed.
Some see fairness when everybody is equally poor in the rice field.

It already does. There are jobs available to anyone, even those without a HS degree or a college degree or a PhD during a time of economic growth.

Where and who are the conservatives that don't think the government shouldn't lift a finger to help the "down and out"?

You are confusing what is reasonable and responsible "giving" in the form of tax dollars with blatant redistribution of wealth. You know, taking from those who didn't screw up their lives so others can happily live off of them and the government (through them) for generations. No matter how they were raised or how much money their parents had growing up.

No one is talking about taking away from the "down and out" until they can get back on their feet crowd...which is what all the government welfare, "help" plans were intended for.

How do you compare a non-educated immigrant who manages to work hard enough to start his own business and then some back in the 40's and is a multi-millionare today to the lazy-ass, poor me, got knocked up at 12 years old and kept on pumping them out, my mommy didn't hug me so I'm on dope, I got some slavery in my history because I"m black so I'm going hang my hat on that, I'm illeeeeegal so I want ESL classes taught in public schools (while I'm on welfare) and then I want free college tuition for my kid too: SO I CAN'T WORK AND YOU NEED TO "GIVE ME" (or sympathize with ME for wanting the easy way out) 2010 crowd? And their pathetic supporters?

Liberalism is an ideology of self-destruction.
If the US quits protracting Europe liberals are going to be first in line for repression
when they're conquered by Islamic fundamentalists. Yet they hate strong America.

Unfortunately, there isnt a lot of response from the liberals and pro-Obama/pro-wealth distribution crowd. Id like to hear from them to see how and why they feel the way they do.
