So what other people do with their own bodies, is more important to you than balancing the budget, and saving our country?
Really?
Protecting a life is quite important to me.
I do believe that religion should influence politics, it's just that while many Republicans claim to be "Christian" their policies and rhetoric do not reflect their faith at all.
I do believe there are religious democrats, because I grew up in a family of them and went to a congregation full of them. I am a religious democrat. And if that term doesn't make sense, than I'm a religious moderate.

Thats your opinion, and you're entitled to it. However, its not the policy of the United States to turn religious doctrine into law.
I respect life to, I hate abortions, I wish they never had to happen. I could care less about gay marriage, because marriage is a religious institution, and I don't follow any one religion.
However, I think that keeping more money in peoples pockets would lead to more money to take care of kids, which would lead to less abortions.
T.B.G. I can agree on many points you stated. One thing I haven't found to be true is spending more money on education creates better educated children, in fact I think children learned more in one room school houses of a hundred fifty years ago
If two people want to be connected together in a civil union that gives them rights that they wouldn't have otherwise I don't think that would be wrong, it doesn't have to be called marraige.
I was born to a religious mother but one thing I haven't is the bondage of that religion. All I have is the belief of ethical and civil behaviour.
I don't want to be a member of either major political party but I do list one on my voter registration so that I at least have a chance to have some influence in the ploitical system that I am forced to particate in until I am given a better choice.
This is not entirely true. Since many of times religious beliefs is what causes a person to stand the way they do on issues. If they were to put their beliefs on the issues aside, then they would lose supporters.
That's just part of the game of politics and why we are in such trouble.
We need strong leaders to make our country strong....not leaders who want to interfeer in the private lives of individuals over things that don't really effect the state of the union. That should be left up to society in general and not by law. If you don't like or approve of something you have your voice to make that known, but you shouldn't have the hammer of the law.

True, because in Iran one religion has all power. Minneapolis voting in the first Muslim Congressman proves that the United States has no one religion with all power.
There needs to be MUCH less representation by the people. More levels of indirection in voting and strict criteria on who gets the privilege (there is no right) to vote. Not based on property ownership (since Fannie and Freddie heavily subsidize homeowners), but more on local civil service and a randomized quiz on the constitution, for example. You must remove the ignorant welfare recipient and NASCAR beer belly redneck from the voting pool.

Yes, in Iran Islam is the law. So when you said "I do believe that religion should influence politics", you meant that American politics should be influenced my more than one religion? Christianity, Islam, etc....

I think there are many things like poverty and the environment that I consider religious issues, and I care about because of my Christian faith. But then there are things like moral freedom that I believe in because I think its the right way to do government.
At the end of the day, separating me from my Catholic faith is like trying to separate me from being born in a cold climate. It has a deep influence on your perspective and you really can't change it. Its a part of who I am.
