UT is a STATE university- not a private college. Unless he was breaking a law, and the police officer did not identify any law that had been broken, he had every right to stay. Shameful.

Yup.

Update, John Bush is out of jail on $20 (bond) and an effort is being made as we speak to sue the university and/or the police. The camera footage pretty much tells it all.

Shh...don't tell the peace man Obama. His supporters say we're getting out of Iraq anyday now...

These people are ridiculous. Gestapo and SS...do you honestly think these kids know what a police state is? Ridiculous.

This arrest occurred at Gregory Gym at the UT where President Obama was giving a speech - by invitation only. That makes it a private event. The young man, who is not even a student, refused to stay inside the 'free-speech zone' that was set up outside of the gym. You can clearly see him attempt to pass by the police officers.

He was asked to leave by a legal representative of Texas State University (listen to the video). He refused. He was taken into custody and removed from campus.

It wasn't a press conference, so what's the big deal? He seems like more of a media-attention ***** than anything else.

Since the sole reason for this thread is an attempt to slam the President for giving a private talk, your complaints would be given more weight if they had some substance to them.

The camera footage tells it all? What exactly is the footage telling you, that the media-clown wanted to get on the news (or You tube)? That's about all it's telling you.

Amazing, because this guy's group is a great supporter of the ACLU. Check out his website. Socialist to the core.

Thanks for clarifying. Obama = Bush.

Oh, and many people went outside the free-speech zone. Can't arrest them all I guess.

How does being a supporter of the ACLU make one a socialist ???????

I don't see any connection at all.

Follow the responses to your posting carefully. You'll soon see that you broke a cardinal rule. In fact, you broke two cardinal rules: one, common sense in the Politics & Other Controversies Forum is not permitted (rule closely monitored for strict compliance). And two, defending President Obama, even when he personally was not actually involved in the incident, brings you only ridicule.

You're welcome! Many people may've gone outside of the free-speech zone - who said you couldn't go outside of it? - but FEW tried to enter the gym. There's lies the critical difference.

I really advise you to read this clown's website, thoroughly. I was being facetious about the ACLU, because they have often been called socialists/anti-American/s, etc., in this forum.

They being mean to me!!!! Besides, it's becoming increasingly clear to me that I and few others actually bother to read links in their entirety and watch and listen closely to the videos that are posted in this section. And I'm the one with dyslexia!!!
