Like the right screaming SOCIALISM! at the mere mention of buying a Band-Aid for an American yet thinking it a noble thing to build an entire hospital for Iraqis?
Like the left screaming racism at people that oppose Obama, yet, allow a racist group like the NBPP get away with voter intimidation.
Like the left screaming racism, yet, calling black people Uncle Toms, Aunt Jemima, House Negro etc...
Because they actually know the laws and constitution of the US? The way I understood it is that you can do whatever on private property but you cannot advertise religion on public property.
Ah ... no "they" don't. If by "they" you mean "government", by speaking out in either support or opposition of the Mosque, they are violating the 1st amendment.
If by "they" you mean the people, the 1st amendment prohibition on religious interference doesn't apply at all. The restriction is placed on the government, and not the people, who are free to protest under the 1st Amendment right to both freedom of speech and freedom of religious expression. That christians would protest a Mosque IS an expression of their religious beliefs, and by definition, protected under the 1st amendment.
each party has a double standard ....and if you (general "you") have the brains and backbone you can just get over it....it's NOT new....it's STANDARD.
And both parties could go back and forth forever....BOTH are guilty of it.
This thread?...NO double standard....the Muslims have a Constitutional right to build their mosque.

So school that!
It is pretty clear who I refer to when using "they".
And what does your second paragraph have to do with anything I wrote?
If you want to school anyone refer to the things the person wrote and not some hallucinations in your head.

I was covering both potential "they's" and you know what the say about "assuming" don't you?
Clearly, those on both sides of the government speaking out on the Mosque issue, be it for or against, are violating the 1st Amendment by taking an official position. No hallucinations ... just a fact.
From what hallucinations do you suffer that would prevent you from seeing this rather elementary case of common sense?

Oh boy.
I was responding to that post:

I don't see how the poster is referring to the government.

This has already been explained to you ad nauseam in another thread.
There is no hypocrisy, just your misunderstanding of what law applies in each situation.
The mosque is a free exercise issue, or would be if the government were trying to stop it. The mosque is on private property.
Prayer in schools and nativity scenes on PUBLIC property are an Establishment clause issue.
So what part of that don't you get?
The only thing this has to do with "liberals" is that being more educated in general, they tend to understand the legal issues better.
I posted this because I already knew what the responses would be. Just look at how many of them took the bait. I plan on using this as an example of the lefts hypocrisy the next time they are against a 1st Amendment arguement because it is pro-christian or jew which should literally be any second now!
Problem is, they are just telling you what the law is.
And wow, you really still don't get it. This isn't a "liberal" idea, it's the law.

Do you still adamently deny being a liberal?
