So when someone refers to you as white you promptly correct them and ask to be referred to as an Italian American. Do you do this in jest or are you serious?

Why would I correct them?

I am both.

As long as they are not calling me a "****" or a "wop" I'm satisfied with either.

Well, certainly not "heart-attack" serious. But definitely not in jest.

I'd say more along the lines of "not-having-my-undies-in-a-bunch-over-trivial-issues" serious.

I've never heard someone designate themselves as an Italian-Australian etc etc. Maybe it doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well (shrug) and Aussies tend to be lazy speech wise and run words together and shorten them anyway.

Then again, before Australia caught the American "multicultural" disease along with all the PC rhetoric - most immigrants were simply denoted as New Australians.

Neither have I...they must only be visible to non-black people.

That sounds like a plan. We should call all immigrants "New Americans". I find it ironic that liberals are the ones always crying that we are all equal, and at the same time love to divide people in different categories.
