It's according to your state. In NC Blue Cross is asking for a hike (up to 30%) in premiums.

^^^Typical liberal bleeding heart lies.

There are a number of children's hospitals nationwide that treat children regardless of the parents' ability to pay, specialty hospitals included.

Wow you're lucky - CA last week slashed the requested rate increase from 30+% down to an average of 19%.

At the very least, can we agree that children should be entirely paid for as well as those with genetic problems (Down's syndrome, spina bifida, other handicaps)? Last I checked, no kids asked to be born. Yet they're ones that are punished if mommy and daddy can't afford care for them and there isn't some form of care available. (call me a socialist but I don't think the kids should be punished on that one)

Not to sound shallow but I CHOOSE not to have kids. Why should I have to pay for everyone else's!

Just another Liberal thinking that we should all give OUR money to everyone else!

Do you refuse to pay school tax, too? A healthy population benefits society. Also, some day, someone may be paying taxes to benefit YOU.

I can CHOOSE the area I want to live in so I can somewhat control my taxes, which I've done.If the taxes become to high I have the CHOICE to move to another area! There's no CHOICE in Govt. FORCED health care.

I'm already FORCED to fund everyone's health care here in Mass. for which if you've read the links in my post doesn't work. Now they're telling me I have to help fund the rest of the countries uninsured? Sounds a lot like socialism to me when the Govt. makes me pay for something or someone else!

We're already paying taxes that fund Medicaid/Medicare so your last statement is a moot point.Unless you'd like to finally admit this is really another TAX from your so called "Leader"

@ the OP:

Bravo my friend, bravo. It's refreshing to finally hear some support from a conservative who understand the concept of "fiscal responsibility". Your analogy was well put, and even if there are conservatives who disagree with the bill it is fine. I just dislike the whole "death panel" crowd who have no valid reasons for hating the bill.

Obama plan is incomplete without getting rid of insurance companies, and cutting costs. One-payer system is what we need to get rid of administrative overhead and middleman fees. Also by cutting out the last 2 years of treatment for an obviously terminal illness we will save sooooo much money left over in the pot.

They also need to get rid of that rule where the ER has to see anyone regardless of the unemergent condition they come in with.

There is also no point in people going to doctors every year for checkups if they are young and healthy. There is however a need to start a war on obesity, heart disease, smoking, and diabetes. This war starts at home, and does not happen in the doctor's office once a year when you go in for your checkup. So I do not believe that we need more primary care docs to carry out prevention - it is ineffective for large scale prevention of the most costly illnesses. Your nurse can give you the preventive immunizations, check your BP, etc.

Thanks for your support of nurses, but I still think everyone should go to the dr. at least every 2 years, then more frequently in their 40s and on. Research has shown that the dr. saying "lose weight" carries more weight (no pun intended) than someone else telling you that, same with smoking. It's possible that women live longer than men b/c we do go to the dr. every year for paps, etc. That's a good time to find other health problems. That's how my blood pressure problem was discovered.

Yeah that would be cool! Like the old TV show:

Doctor: "I'm deeply sorry, Mr. Bryan."

Paul Bryan: "It's alright Doctor. I already knew."

Doctor: "You have at least nine months left, perhaps as much as eighteen."

Paul Bryan: "The first doctor gave me from one to two years."

Doctor: "I hope he's right, er, I mean, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference because we're pulling the plug on your treatment and you'll be dead by Thursday!"
