You nailed that one! A perfect descriptor of the Obama administration's social justice economic policies.

Comparatively speaking, our poor are some of the richest people in the world.

The overwhelming majority of the US poor have more that adequate living conditions, have air conditioning, are well nourished (probably "overnourished"), have cable television and even own a car.

I think 17 people die from toasters every year. What should we do about that?

Depending what you call "dieing of poverty" is that a new desease or condition? Or is the article talking because of poverty, some people are dieing?

How many people in our country die now due to terrorism? That God, very few. But what is your point?

Nita

Love it! Had to rep you on that one!

But doctor he's already receiving food stamps, unemployment for 2 years so he has the lifeline going already. What additional electrolytes or additives would you like to administer now?

Terrorism sells newspapers, magazines; and politicians score political points talking "tough" on terrorism.
Poverty, on the other hand,is an uncomfortable subject for many Americans.
Out-of-sight, out-of-mind is usually the rule for many of us.
Posters who had NO problem, spending billions and billions of dollars in IRAQ and AFGHANISTAN.
Mock the working poor in America, as a bunch of free-loaders, and therefor not worthy of any compassion.

I think, time will tell, who are the "real" Americans...................

Steve

the problem is there are no "real" poor in the usa...if you make inder 20k(the poverty level) you will get welfare, food stamps, etc...you even qualify for many of these items up to about 40k or more.

if ANYBODY is starving in the USA , then it is absolutly their own fault, because this country does take care of its poor.

we are good at taking care of the poor, the rich take care of themselves..its the middleclass that constantly get screwed, and more so from the liberals that want to constantly kill the middleclass with taxes

Yup. Spousal abuse victims advocate organizations will come up with huge numbers for number of abuse victims that seem to defy logic. Hunger advocacy groups will do the same, and invent new terminology along the way to describe people who missed an afternoon snack.

I've seen starvation and obesity statistics that when put side-by-side only make sense if the obese are actually eating the skinny starving people.

Always a grain of salt when the study is meant to support an existing conclusion.
