It's a done deal. All Americans will keep the Bush tax cuts in exchange for pushing unemployment benefits out 13 months. So now the people who have been stressing that they might have to actually look for a job, only have to look for a bar to celebrate.

Nothing has been said yet about extending the benefits beyond 99 weeks (might be part of it, but no word on that yet). What it is, is giving those who were capped at different tier levels (26 weeks, 46 weeks, 60 weeks, 73 weeks) an extension.

So let's see:

You go to school from 18-22
Then you take a year off to "find yourself"
Go to work for a couple of years
Take 3 years off to collect unemployment

This is a pretty sweet deal for people born in the late 80's. Or the people who were in their 50's/60's who took early retirement and have been collecting unemployment for the last couple of years to "augment" their income.

Not if Republicans have anything to do with it. Extending jobless benefits create jobs? If you believe that I have a bridge you need to see.

Exactly. While I'm sure there are a lot of people that truly are in dire need, I'm willing to bet the majority of the people collecting UE are scumbags simply gaming the system at the rest of our expense.

Dangling free money in front of people tends to bring every Tom, Dick and Harry out of the woodwork to get there share.

My son will never go back to work. Well thanks for letting him stay home for another year. He won't accept a job that pays less than unemployment pays and why should anyone.

That's how welfare is geared as well. They have welfare set up that even if you cross the poverty threshold by one dollar, you are ineligible so it disincentives people from getting a job if they get a job near minimum wage and have to pay for their health benefits for their family

A small price to pay for the tax rate extension for ALL. Well worth it to see obama BREAK one of his high priority "promises".

Next up - deep, deep spending cuts.
