I'm sure Chavez isn't stupid enough to attack the US as some have suggested. He's crazy but not stupid.

I think a much more likely motive for acquiring these mostly defensive weapons is to sell them or hand them over to Iran. I believe it is getting more difficult every day for them to acquire certain arms. This would help them protect their precious nuclear installations from Israeli/US bombers, no?

I'm not quite sure how having shoulder held anti-aircraft missiles would help him attack the US even if he wanted to (which I doubt)

I'm certain they won't. Perhaps he is getting nervous about possible incursions into his own territory. Wasn't there a border flare-up with Colombia recently?

That is a far more likely scenario

well as long as Iran does not get any S-300 SAM's which some belive can take down a 5th gen F-35 and any gen 4 fighter only the F-22 is safe.
But I can see russia using chavaz as a middleman so they can say they did not directly sell them to Iran and funny how Hugo Chavez and Iran's Ahmadinejad seem to meet up and do alot of trade deals.

well NORAD would see it and shoot it down I mean russia has had ICBM's pointed at us for over 50 years.

anyone that shoots at us with a nuclear ICBM will see what a trident II nuclear tipped ICBM lauched from an ohio class sub looks like.

I'm not worried. I mean how is a shoulder fired missile going to stop our earthquake machines?
Hugo, Haiti was just the beginning!

No reason to believe that he might sell those to terrorists crossing our Southern border illegally is there? And yes, of course Columbia is a factor here. Do the naysayers on this thread side with the dictator over Columbia?

Sell them? He'd more likely give them some. After all, he's tight with the regime in Tehran and has been operating a Spanish language school for the Iranian's for some time.

Consider this: How many American's could differentiate between an Iranian and a Mexican, especially if that Iranian spoke Spanish fluently?

With our wide open southern border, there could be hundreds of Iranian agents already here, posing as illegal Mexicans and nobody would know the difference.

Obviously you do not pay attention that I-35, I-29, and I-70 are among the main interstates illegal aliens use to transport themselves through the USA. Anyone who enters the US illegally, including OTMs, are likely to travel right through the central corridor of this country. Are you so naive to believe that potential terrorists are not among them?

As for the name calling and personal character attack calling me a warmonger:
