came across one of those emails that circulated back in I dont really know but i received it early 2006. Anyhow the suggestion was to basically boycott exxonmobil and the price might go down by others following their lead. I thought it was a good idea and still think so today unless someone is able to explain otherwise. So i posted the email to generate some interest. Today there were a total of 18 views and two of those were probably me; it was called "idea that .....work" So now I’m wondering and will share with you; did i give it a poor title, are there not that many subscribers, subscribers following politics and other.... , or did i miss something back in 2006? I am open to being a partner to any idea that might impact the price of gasoline aside from selling my car and walking albeit not that bad an idea. So if you take the time to open this shoot us a one liner explaining where youre at, cause i for one am curious and now am really wondering how few people peruse citydata. OR have we just reached that place where we no longer give a tihs about dropping $50.00 ++ fifty dollars plus,. Thats half of a hundred dollar bill. and if you fill up every other week (??)
Boycott is a waste. You just have to buy more fuel the day following the boycott.
The best method I have found is to go to a older diesel fueled vehicle, and distill your own bio diesel at home. Perfectly legal for your own private use, but, as I understand it, taxes may be due to the man if you sell any of it to others for their use.
I did my part and invested in a very nice used Honda Civic that gets 36 mpg and use it for 80% of my driving. Although I hate the cramped feeling and feel like a dog on the freeway with everybody else driving SUVs I felt it was my part to sacrifice. I still have my Chevy Silverado which I use sparingly.
If people would target one oil company to buy from and let the rest suffer lower profits until they lower their price it would work but that is just not going to happen

Exxon and the other refiners put their gas into a big pipe, the gasoline that has been refined by Exxon doesn't necessarily go to Exxon stations. If you don't buy "Exxon gas" at an Exxon station you'll be buying it at the BP station. The only person you'll be hurting is the small business owner that owns the gas station.
Edit: You'd probably drive profits up for Exxon.........
Excellent strategy by the oil companies! Raise prices during a season when most people are preoccupied with Christmas and New Year.
Oil companies are learning from their mentors, the federal gubmint. After all, the Federal Reserve Act and Income Tax amendment both passed during Xmas season while lawmakers were away.
