Thoughts? I think that even when one doesn't live in a city, it's selection of Mayor can have an effect on the entire country because it is a major city. To me, and I hate to speculate, there is something kinda not right about Rahm Emanuel politically. Chicago just doesn't seem like it needs a Rahm Emanuel.
It's not going to matter what "the people" want.
Rahm has been "chosen". Doors are opening, rules are changed or bent. (residency requirements).
He WILL be the next mayor.

And I suspect he'll make a WH run in 2016. He's been groomed and managed for it. That is the part that makes me want to puke.
Considering that Chicago has given us people like Al Capone and Rod Blagojavich (I know that's not spelled right), Rahm Emanuel is kind of an improvement. He's a complete prick, but at least he hasn't been charged with corruption. Yet.
I'm afraid you're right. Some time as a Chicago mayor should be as good as a part-time senator.
When was the last time a mayor of Chicago has ever run for the presidency? The only example I know if was Capone's buddy, Big Bill Thompson, who was an extremely dark horse candidate for the Republican nomination in 1920.
