Yea, but what's the alternative? Those are the guys i want at the levers of power. Sorry, but i don't want Larry the Cable Guy or other boobwahzee club members making big decisions.

It's easier to label someone "elitist" than to discuss ideas, especially for those who intolerantly believe that their opinins should not be questioned, challenged, or criticized.

Oh, I've been around real elitists. Doesn't have a single thing to do with political affliation. These are the people that have no concept of "real" life. Grocery stores, banks, gas stations, etc, etc are completely lost on this crowd as it's one of those things that do not even touch their existence. However, they do love to lament about the "little people" and their rather sad existences. By the way, those "little people" are pretty much all of us; people that work for a living.

Family name and connections are important in this crowd. Money is a given but not necessarily an entree into this world (think Donald Trump). It really is a fascinating world and makes me quite thankful that I am not part of it. I like to be grounded in reality.

Elitists are completely grounded in reality. That's why they're elite.

A good example of the elite are Bill Clinton and the Bushs. When he was Gov. of Arkansas Bill Clinton was not a member of the elite. Now he is. George HW Bush and his son, George Bush, have always been menbers of the elite. Bernie Maddof was a poser and an accepted elite until his fraud was exposed.

IMO, an elitist is anyone who:
Feels they are smarter, more knowlegeable, better educated and have better judgement than most other people.
Feel they have a right to dictate to others how they should vote, how they should live, what they should think, and what is best for them. For their own good, of course.
Feels that what should apply for most people shouldn't necessarily apply to them, they have legitimate reasons to be be above or excluded from everybody else.
Feels that anybody who disagrees with them is either foolish, uneducated, simply wrong or downright threatening.
Will use any means necessary to control others and do that to gain wealth, power and positions of privilege for themselves. Whether it be through business or politics or jobs in the media or entertainment.
I think describes it best so far.

On the other side the "elitist" will tolerate the other view of the poor, misinformed, uneducated and hopeless person without the education they have... Really no difference and I'd prefer the first type because at least I know upfront the type of person I'm dealing with.
