In July of 1798, Congress passed – and President John Adams signed - “An Act for the Relief of Sick and Disabled Seamen.” The law authorized the creation of a government operated marine hospital service and mandated that privately employed sailors be required to purchase health care insurance.
This government provided healthcare service was to be paid for by a mandatory tax on the maritime sailors (a little more than 1% of a sailor’s wages), the same to be withheld from a sailor’s pay and turned over to the government by the ship’s owner. The payment of this tax for health care was not optional. If a sailor wanted to work, he had to pay up.

Because of all the disease and they choose to be seamen there were conditions of their employment. Not in anyway similar to the national confiscation of health care by Obammycare. Nice try though.
Obammycare fines individuals up to $5,000 for not being able to afford your $14,000 insurance premiums. Since Obama stepped in health care premiums have gone through the roof.
This whole thing is a disaster (thank you very much)

Funny thing is that most people who bring up the Founding Fathers, rarely appreciate anything they did, nor do they look at the Constitution as anything but a rag.
They reuire drivers to have auto insurnace to. But it is not mandatory uless one wants to practice driving. Also mnay other regualtions that are not mandatory unlees such want to practice like contractor license etc.But if you don't want to participate then you aren't required to buy it.

Well said and so true. The libs only use the consitution or things done in the old days if it suites them and even then they twist it. Do they like it or not?!?!??!
