65% of Americans Favor Prayer in Public Schools - Rasmussen Reports™

How do you feel about public school prayers? As most of you know, school prayers were declared unconstitutional back in 1962 and there have been attempts to bring it back. I honestly would support bringing it back.

Short of a constitutional amendment (cough not happening cough), constitutional rights are not subject to the whim of the majority.

That is, actually, the whole point of having them in the first place...

And if your kids are required to buy prayer mats and pray to Mecca every day, you'd be OK with that I suppose?

No, send your kid to a private school if you feel school sponsored prayer is critical to their learning experience.

They can do whatever they want.

But the SCOTUS says they can't indoctrinate my kids with religion in public school or using public funds.

What exactly is your problem with that?

I see nothing wrong with allowing students to pray on their own and using their own time.

And I honestly would not. Fortunately, the Constitution is on my side, so I win.

Edit: Students have never been prohibited from praying in public schools. It is teacher-led prayer that is not allowed.

Mormon's at my school would gather outside of class time for prayer. That is reasonable.

It has no place during the already limited class time.
