Too many differences between California and Alabama; Virginia and Illinois. Our Congress, for decades, has attempted a one size fits all strategy and it's failing. Simply put, a Virginian should have no reason to be complaining about Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid, because the government should not be of size and function wherein other state delegations can affect citizens of another state.

My taxes pay their salary.

I'll continue to complain about Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi as Often as I wish.

What happens in California affects people in Ohio and vice versa. Why don't you just press for secession instead.

People who have been historically abused by their state and local governments and who had found recourse only through federal intervention would disagree with the original post.

I agree with your sentiments though doubt it will happen.

Reigning federal government in and forcing it to act within Constitutional restraints would accomplish much the same thing.

The confederations established in America all failed miserably. A weak United States would not work well. States could use a bit more power, but not to the point of a confederacy.

Default Facts, please

First off, the USA is promised a "republican form".
Second, the USA has been under a "State of Emergency" since 1933.

It's no wonder folks are confused.

I sincerely doubt that 1 in 10,000 Americans know of this FACT.

And that's further proof of the effectiveness of the world's greatest propaganda ministry. They've effectively erased from collective memory that American people were once SOVEREIGNS and served by government, and by trickery became SUBJECTS serving the government.

United States Constitution, Article 4, Section 4.
The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion.

"GOVERNMENT (Republican Form of Government)- One in which the powers of sovereignty are vested in the people and are exercised by the people ... directly..."

Emergency Powers Statutes, Senate Report SR 93-549, November 19, 1973
Senate Report 93-549
War and Emergency Powers Acts

"A majority of the people of the United States have lived all of their lives under emergency rule. For 40 years (1933-1973), freedoms and governmental procedures guaranteed by the Constitution have, in varying degrees, been abridged by laws brought into force by states of national emergency."
