Would you mind telling us just how "fine" your employees are doing?

Details please.

OK, you have established that all unions are not alike.
What union were you in?
It is a blatant conflict of interest for public employee
unions
contributing to political campaigns.
The taxpayer is the monkey-in-the-middle.

Are you delusional or purposely being obtuse? Maybe YOU happen to live in a state with paycheck protection laws? Not all public employees are so lucky.

Take Jade Thompson for example. Her husband Andy, running for state house rep., was the recipient of vicious attack ads from the Ohio Education Association Union... the very union Jade Thompson belonged to as a condition of her employment in Ohio.

I’m Jade Thompson and my husband, Andy Thompson, is running for the Ohio House of Representatives. I am a teacher at Marietta High School. Imagine my chagrin when my friends and colleagues began showing me the awful attack ads against my husband which they had received in the mail. Now imagine my dismay when I saw that those defamatory mailers were paid for by the Ohio Education Association – my teachers’ union. In effect, they are using my union dues to attack my husband! This is a new low, even for the OEA.

I guess Jade Thompson is a figment of my imagination??

PUBLIC unions have no business barganing, when their employers (THE TAXPAYER) is left out of the 'barganing"

Something is law until it is repealed and then it is no longer law.

A right granted by law can be taken away via repeal.

I guess you failed to read the comment below your link.Union dues are not and cannot by LAW be used for political contributions. They have to be from funds... donated into a seperate political fund......which is VOLUNTARY.

Are there not county ,state and federal supervisors or boards who negotiate with the teachers for their contracts???Maybe you should ask THEM why they give all this away.A contract is between TWO parties....... its not like the teachers set their own salaries........

uhm...

when the UNIONS fund the CAMPAIGNS and raise money for these crooks that will give them anything they want...then no it is not the will of the taxpayer

PUBLIC unions should not have barganing power...private unions sure..but not PUBLIC unions

the unions make it MADITORY to be a member of the union whether the worker want to be a member or not
the union makes it maditory to pay dues, even if you dont want to be a union member..you want the job, you will be union or you can go find something else

that is union crime

there should not be anytype of barganing for PUBLIC unions...private unions sure..but not publc unions

and you want to know WHY it is a problem to have 'collective barganing' in the PUBLIC SECTOR............The problem is there is no REAL "collective bargaining." ......Public sector unions are a client of a political bureaucracy that wants their vote. The taxpayer - the "employer" - isn't a player in the bargaining process......

yes to private unions...no to public unions

what is a PUBLIC union going to do

is it going to make a shop safer....no that is OSHA
is it going to make a shop more enviremental...no thats the EPA

nope it all comes down to MONEY, and greed

al a public union can do is DEMAND that the taxpayer give them more days off, ata higher pay, even though the TAXPAYER is recieveing lower services and themselves lower pay

and the taxpayer isnt even at the barganing table.....

why not have the state/locals be like the FEDERAL government...there is no BARGANING with the union...your pay is SET by congress (or in this case the local/state legistature).......even obama agrees with this..after all he is the one that just froze government workers pay for the next 2 years

that is the point that the politicos here on CD dont seen to get

yes to PRIVATE unions (ie Ge, GM, microsoft, etc)............no to PUBLIC unions (ie cops, teachers, park rangers, garbage specialists, etc)

the point is accurate.. a PUBLIC EMPLOYEE union should NOT have the RIGHT to strike or hold the taxpayer hostage

we INVEST money in training teachers/cops/park workers/ DOL/ DOH/ DOE(nergy)/ DOE(ducation) etc.. they are there for a REASON, to help the PUBLIC, their pay/bennie should be decided by the PUBLIC (taxpayers) or by the local/state congress(or assenbly or WHATEVER the legislatory level is called in that peticular state)... not by some crooked union bosses DEMANDING tey get 15% raises, when the inflation rate is 2% (or less) and EVERYONE else (especcially the TAXPAYER that is paying their salaries) is getting reductions in pay

there is a BIG difference between a union at GE, and a union at 'East Meadow school district'

again this is WHY..private unions sure...public unions NO

National Labor Relations Act ("Wagner Act"),Congress enacted the landmark Act in 1935 - the Magna Carta of the American labor movement. It excluded federal, state and local employees. It created the National Labor Relations Board to enforce the rights of labor.

even FDR said so

"""Meticulous attention should be paid to the special relationships and obligations of public servants to the public itself and to the government. All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations ... The very nature and purposes of Government make it impossible for ... officials ... to bind the employer ... The employer is the whole people, who speak by means of laws enacted by their representatives ..." FDR 1937
