Since the U.S. loves to mettle in the internal affairs of others and Americans don't seem to mind then at least make each country pay us a flat fee on a sliding scale for the protection.
Instead of giving money to Israel and Egypt, for example, how about they pay US!
I say $10 billion a year for the 1st tier nations all the way down to $5 million dollars a year for the poorest nations.
The best would be for us to stay out of others business but we won't be doing that anytime soon.
The United States has troops stationed in 130 different nations. They should be brought home. The purpose of maintaining a military force should be to protect the lives, liberty and property of the American people. Sticking our nation’s nose into disputes between other nations has seen us involved in recent years in Serbia, Pakistan, Israel-PLO, and a new "crisis" involving Venezuela and Colombia where we haven’t yet sent troops but have sent military supplies. Our Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff has told the unpopular leader of Pakistan that we stand ready to send him whatever military help he requests in his questionable efforts to erase terrorist cells in his country.
Being the world's policeman is a choice that we make.
Why would we charge someone for our choices?
Do you charge others for what you decide to do (bidden or not).
If we told the 130 countries where we have bases that we were bugging out (and taking the $$$ those bases bring in) I think they would dig deep and pay up. We aren't over there 'cause we are bored. We are there to make money. Pure and simple.
I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. In fact, every nation that we're stationed in should be paying for our military presence there. If they aren't paying, then we should take it to mean that our being there isn't necessary....which basically means that we should pack up and leave.
And yes...i do mean Korea too! (for those who were going to say "what about Korea?")
The globalists want the US to be the world's police force because that allows Western Europe to not spend as much money on their own militaries and to fund cradle to grave socialist entitlements for their populations.
