Correct on both counts. However, McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone which was US territory at the time (Carter surrendered it to Panama), and Obama's birth is not an issue if he was born in Hawaii. The assertion of birthers is that he was born in Kenya.

Wouldn't it be funny if the reason isn't the location of his birth but something else on it like he was born a female?

<just kidding libs, don't get your panties in a twist>

That's only the Birther opening position. Every Birther lawsuit has also contained a number of fall back positions... many that do not care where he was born.

This is how we know that there is no certificate Obama could show that would shut up the Birthers.

Yes that would be funny. Especially since that information is already on the birth certificate he release.

All facts to the contrary.
They refuse to accept it.

McCain wasn't born on a military base but in a local hospital.

As much as I love you, chielgirl, this time you got this one detail wrong.

McCain was born at the Navy hospital on the Coco Solo submarine base... in the Canal Zone.

That said:

1. American military bases abroad are (contrary to popular opinion) not considered American territory for purposes of citizenship at birth. Neither are Embassies.

Quote:
7 FAM 1113 NOT INCLUDED IN THE MEANING OF "IN THE UNITED STATES"
(CT:CON-314; 08-21-2009)

c. Birth on U.S. Military Base Outside of the United States or Birth on U.S. Embassy or Consulate Premises Abroad:

(1) Despite widespread popular belief, U.S. military installations abroad and U.S. diplomatic or consular facilities abroad are not part of the United States within the meaning of the 14th Amendment. A child born on the premises of such a facility is not born in the United States and does not acquire U.S. citizenship by reason of birth.
2. McCain was born one year before legislation that granted American citizenship to people born in the canal zone. While the law was retroactive, it is problematic concerning the actual status of citizenship at birth.

3. While the Supreme Court has been explicit (US v. Wong Kim Ark) that birth on US soil, even to foreign parents, is sufficient for status as a natural born citizen, there is no equally explicit recognition of this also being true for children of citizens born overseas. That is why the Congress chose to pass the joint resolution for McCain before the last election.

PS. John McCain has never released his birth certificate (do not be fooled by the forgery that can be found on line). He has fought its release in court three times, and in a manner identical to Obama. He moved that the cases be dismissed based on standing. He too has been 100% successful.

Aargh, I stand corrected.
Thanks for the correction.

Well, there are still people out there who think the Moon landing was fake, the Earth is flat, and that Elvis is still alive. So it should come as no surprise that there is a crowd of the willfully ignorant who refuse to believe Obama was born in Hawaii, despite the birth certificate and the newspaper scan.

If your son was born a US citizen, he is a natural born citizen. Full stop. There's no law or Supreme Court case that has ever said otherwise.

So, the question is not his citizenship. The question is: where was he born? He could easily put this question to rest, but has chosen not to do so. Therefore, the birthers persist.
Yes, all Obama needs to do is "disclose his records" and the entire birther movement will stop!

So if your position is that Obama has not released his birth certificate, why do you then believe that two contemporary newspaper announcements were forged; statements from former HI Governor Lingle (R) confirming that Obama was born at Kapiloani was a lie; and multiple statements from the GOP-appointed director and spokespersons from the Department of Health were lies?
