There's a well-argued, and, even more importantly, well-supported argument for why the race-as-African issue on Obama's birth certificate is moronic:

The African Race | Obama Conspiracy Theories

Please feel free to educate yourselves, not that that is the objective in this thread.

While I admit Obama holds a valid US Birth certificate, I find the linking you used to validate this to be seriously flawed. from your link..

This is the instruction for filling out a birth certificate from the National Center for Health Statistics:

1) The National Center for Health wasnt established until 1975, when Obama was 14 years old.
2) The form they are linking to as "evidence" when Obama was born, was revised in 2003..

Clearly the National Center for Health cant be used as evidence to confirm the validity of Obamas birth certificate since they wre non existant, and forms being used now, cant be used as evidence of the way things were 50+ years ago..

1) The National Center for Health Statistics was established in 1960: National Center for Health Statistics, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - healthfinder.gov - NCHS
2) The instructions are problematic as we don't know what was revised, I agree. However, this doesn't mean that the process wasn't similar or even exactly the same in terms of race identification. I look forward to you providing the old instructions when you find them.

The certificate reflects what the parents gave as information. Obama Sr. referred to himself as Africa. Not black, not negro (which was used at that time), not African American (which wasn't a coined termed yet).

So, blame Barack Obama Sr. for saying he was African.

Since it wasn't the hospital that put that down. It was Obama's parents who listed their race as whatver they put.

Obama Sr. indicated that he was African. It wasn't a "list" of "choose your race" on the form.
