That you didn't do all you could do to secure your spot.

this is just another legislative judge. the judge should be removed from the bench and have his butt sued off. maybe when judges start getting removed from the bench for not doing their jobs, the USA can stop having legislative judges.

Sorry but he did.

One after another he watch them fail and the company would come to him to step in and fix the problems or fill the void.

Like a good employee he always did and then they would use AA to hire the next non qualified to TRY the job and one after another they failed.

You would think after a line up of complete and utter failures you would know if you cannot do the job that you are not qualified.

Oh yes he knew because once he got the job he has very privy to the failures who could not do the jobs qualifications and he fact they should not have been hired to begin with and were only HANDED the job based on the color of their skin.

No one said white skin makes you more qualified now did we?

But I can attest that non whites could not handle the job and were not qualified to do the job or one of the large group of them they tried would have been able to do the job right?

A couple guys in our group looked into a suit at one point. It's not that easy. This judge may be a loon, but he's not stupid. He has as of yet worded things in such a way that a New Haven like lawsuit isn't quite possible. Yet....

you have to remember that judges make decisions. if the judge is trying to legislate around the backdoor, then that might be a loophole for you to sue on.

judges are not suppose to legislate, tho many do. violating their oath all the while.

If literally all you've got to go on in this debate, is that I should have joined the military; then I guess I can grant you that it's something..............but very little.

Long story short: I took the FDNY exam a little over four years ago. I scored very much in range to be hired. One class went through when the list was established. The economy took a dive and hiring stopped for a bit. When the city decided the time was right to hire at least a couple more classes, an extreme radical federal "judge" ruled that our test was discriminatory simply due to "disparate impact". Neither the judge, nor the dept of justice, or the African American Fraternal organization (the latter two in conjunction brought the case against the city) could find one single question on the test that was deemed discriminatory. The simple fact that not enough blacks and latinos (no other races count according the suit; yes I'm serious) passed high enough to their liking, was enough for the list to be tossed. The ONLY way the city could hire off the list was if racial quotas were used the judge decided. The city refused, and has since refused.

Now mind you, the city has bent over backwards like you wouldn't believe in order to recruit absolutely nobody except these two racial groups. Application fee waivers were granted, reminder calls about the test, wake up calls, and door to door van rides on test day. That is pretty solid if you ask me.

So anyway, here I (and many others) am who have just reached or well passed the age of 29; the cut-off for when you can apply. Now unless we get the city to grant an age extension, which we are actually making some headway with, we will be SOL to apply for the new exam because of this insulting policy. Yes I said insulting and I mean it. And I can tell you that plenty of the black candidates who had their dreams shat on by this judge feel this way. Many of them are fighting for this age extension right along with me. These are dedicated and intelligent guys (and girl) who want nothing out of life aside from getting on the job just like anyone else has.

So that's basically it. I tried to break it down as well as I could without rambling. And I would have posted some links, but my phone is getting drained of the battery. I'll post some later.

Oh and to the latino fraternal organization's credit: The president of the org. has publicly stated that they want nothing to do with any lawsuits or racial quotas. The extent of anything he wants is more recruiting. Stand up guy IHMO.
Oh great. There you go playing the race card.

Basically I am in favor of affirmative action provided it really helps solve the problems caused by racist and other behaviors and atrocities during the past couple of centuries.
But maybe it is time for an overhaul of that entire system. Like with political correctness the initial intentions were certainly good, but it seems to have gotten out of control.

We had a recent thread about a police department in Ohio lowering the passing test score for Blacks, so they could become police officers. How could anyone be one the city's bravest or one of the city's finest if they can't pass the test?

1. With government racial discrimination, African Americans excelled in the areas of academia. This can't be denied, some of the greatest leaders of our time came from this structure. It was if African Americans decided to show the rest of the country that they were not only as good as many of the white folks that were holding them back, but that in many cases they were better.

2. After the civil rights bill the achievements of African Americans have declined at a steady pace.

Sure, there are many that do excel, but it can't be denied that after civil rights were passed many folks simply moved to areas where they were the predominate race, and started killing each other, and started idolizing rap stars and athletes.

Its time to take the training wheels off. Most of the people under the age of 55 don't discriminate at a level thats noticeable. Its time for every ethnic group to stand on their own two feet. In fact, if there is an ethnic group problem, its their own to deal with. I'm willing to help anyone who has the drive or ability to succeed.

I'm tired of hearing "Oh but the schools are so bad" Abe Lincoln used to read books he could find on a dirt floor. As far as I can tell, there are public libraries everywhere. Maybe if children were expected to stand on their own, they'd take more advantage of the many things that surround them that can help them sculpt their mind into a weapon that can get them out of the neighborhoods they are in.

No one is holding African Americans back now, except themselves.
