AR High Court Upholds Decision Striking Down Adoption, Foster Parents Law

Color me unsurprised.

"The Arkansas Supreme Court has upheld a decision to strike down a state law barring gay couples and other unmarried people living together from serving as adoptive or foster parents..."

Follow the link for the rest of the story, but basically the Court upheld lower court decisions declaring the law unconstitutional.

Thoughts, or errr...emotional reactions?

A law such as that one was absolutely disgusting to begin with. I can't believe people actually voted for something so reprehensible.

I think what is often over looked is that frequently gays adopt kids who languish in the system... Minority kids, older kids, kids with disabilities, etc.

Which is precisely why we don't put constitutional rights to popular vote.

I think most of them are closeted GOP legislators.

The irony based on people like Backspace is this brings to mind the huge whine fest from conservative Christians about the UK ban on anti-gay Christian couples from being able to foster.

So, apparently, it's a-ok that gays can't adopt - but stop conservative Christians from fostering and out comes the persecution complex, and sign of the end times because they are being attacked.

I get more disgusted by the sad excuse for Christianity that conservatives keep presenting every day.

Conservatives don't care - they continue to propagate the myth that gays are child molesters and it's a danger to put them in a gay household.
