This is nothing new. It happens everyday. Worse when there are socioeconomic problems and kids out of wedlock. Why abortion is not mandatory for certain people, I do not know. If these kids could be born and adopted out that would be great, but how many pro-lifers are you gonna find who is willing to take care of somebody's colored, anchor crack baby? Probably only the gays would have the financial means to do this, and they aren't always allowed to adopt.

The mother stood by and let this happen. She is at least guility of child endangerment. She entrusted the care of this child to a man she should have known was a danger.

Any mother so cavalier about the safety of her child should be charged. Don't most parents run backrground checks on people who watch the children?
Actually, I never did that (run a background check).
The guy was the mom's boyfriend. He was abusive to her, according to one of the links. This is a far more common story than anyone can imagine. Thank goodness the kid wasn't brain-damaged. He should be placed in foster care, IMO.

Well now, I sympathize with your sentiment there but you can't force someone to abort their baby. Better to mandate sterilization for super stupid people and everyone in the criminal class.
This mother is white and I assume her baby is white or perhaps biracial but we don't have that kind of information. There are plenty of white couples who would die to adopt a healthy biracial infant, fewer who would adopt a healthy black child but they are out there (and anyway, they meet resistance from black social workers and adoption workers who don't believe a child should be severed from his racial/ethnic heritage that way and I tend to agree that their views are valid).
But all of that is irrelevant anyway because your comment assumes that these birthmothers would willingnly relinquish their children and most of them don't and won't. Women just hate being seen as slave breeders for infertile couples. They're funny that way.
